About us

Forward Thinking is an independent UK charity founded in April 2004 to address the growing social isolation of  Muslim communities in Britain and to promote a more inclusive peace process in the Middle East. We believe these objectives are interlinked.  It is widely recognised that the Israel-Palestine conflict has led to deepening tensions between ethnic and religious groups in the UK.

Our UK Programme aims to empower and strengthen marginalised Muslim communities and to promote confidence to engage more with wider society and the British Establishment without fearing the loss of their faith identity. Our strategy is to work with leaders of the more grassroots communities as well as to engage disaffected young people who feel marginalised by wider society and their own communities.

Our Middle East Initiative aims to promote a more inclusive peace process by engaging the religious and ideologically motivated Palestinian and Israeli political parties who have been previously excluded from ‘track two’ dialogue.  We have succeeded in building strong relationships with key conservative politicians and faith-based social and political leaders in both the Israeli and Palestinian arenas.  We are therefore in a very strong position to engage with these constituencies, based on trust and a strong track record we have established on both sides.
